How do I collect dietary information?

Ask guests about allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal needs when they RSVP.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

Short answer: Enable the built-in dietary field in RSVP settings, or add a custom question for more structured options.

Using the built-in dietary field

The easiest way is to enable the built-in dietary field: go to RSVP > Form, click RSVP settings, and check Dietary requirements. This adds a text field for each guest to enter their dietary needs. If you need structured options (like a dropdown), you can also add a custom question as described below.

Adding a dietary question

  1. Go to RSVP > Questions

  2. Click Add question

  3. Name it "Dietary restrictions" or "Allergies"

  4. Choose text field or multiple choice

  5. Set it to ask each guest individually

  6. Click Save

Text field vs multiple choice

Text field:

"Please list any dietary restrictions or allergies."

- Guests type their own needs
- Captures specific allergies
- More detailed but harder to summarize

Multiple choice:

Options: Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Nut allergy, Shellfish allergy, None

- Easy to count and summarize
- May miss unusual restrictions
- Consider adding "Other" with text field

Best practice: Both

Add two questions:
1. Multiple choice for common restrictions
2. Text field for "Please specify any other dietary needs"

Viewing and sharing responses

  1. Go to RSVP > Responses

  2. View dietary needs for each guest

  3. Export to share with your caterer

Tips

  • Ask each guest individually, not per household

  • Share the complete list with your caterer early

  • Follow up personally with severe allergies

  • Include this info when doing seating if needed

  • Some couples only ask if the guest is attending
