Can guests RSVP using their email instead of name?

Learn about the different ways guests can identify themselves when RSVPing.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

Short answer: Guests typically look up their name to RSVP, but you can also enable RSVP by email address in your settings.

Default: RSVP by name

By default, guests RSVP by:
1. Entering their first and last name
2. System finds them in your guest list
3. They complete the RSVP form

RSVP by email option

If enabled, guests can also:
1. Enter their email address
2. System matches to their guest record
3. Proceed with their RSVP

Enabling RSVP by email

  1. Go to RSVP > Form

  2. Click RSVP settings

  3. Find the Find guests by dropdown

  4. Select Email address

  5. Click Save changes

When email RSVP helps

Consider enabling this when:
- Guests have common names
- You have many guests with similar names
- Cultural naming conventions vary
- Guests are unsure how their name is listed

Requirements for email RSVP

For this to work:
- Guests must have an email in your system
- The email must match exactly
- Each guest needs a unique email

Handling name lookup issues

If guests can't find themselves by name:
- Check for spelling variations
- Add alternate names/nicknames
- Try email lookup as backup
- Contact them with their exact name as listed

Tips

  • Ensure all guests have emails in your system before enabling

  • Test both lookup methods yourself

  • Include instructions on your RSVP page

  • Have a backup plan for guests without email addresses
