Using a multiple choice question

Learn how to create a multiple choice RSVP question where guests select from a list of options using checkboxes (Standard or Pro plan).

Multiple choice questions are great when you have a set of predefined answers and want guests to pick from them. They appear as checkboxes on the RSVP form.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

When to use multiple choice

Use multiple choice when you have specific options to choose from:

  • Meal selection - "Which meal option would you like?" with options like Chicken, Fish, Vegetarian

  • Transportation - "How will you be getting to the venue?" with options like Own car, Shuttle, Taxi

  • Hotel preference - "Which hotel are you staying at?" with your room block options

Multiple choice works best when you have 2 to 10 predefined options and the answer must be one of them.

How it appears to guests

Guests see your question with a list of options as checkboxes. They click to select their answer.

If you've enabled multiple selection, guests can check more than one option. If multiple selection is off, it works like radio buttons where only one option can be selected at a time.

If you've added a free field option, guests also see an "Other" field where they can type their own answer if none of your options fit.

Setting up a multiple choice question

  1. Go to RSVP > Questions

  2. Click Add new question

  3. Select Multiple choice as the type

  4. Enter your question title

  5. Add your options (up to 10)

  6. Configure additional settings

  7. Click Add question

Configuration options

Options - Add up to 10 answer choices. The first option is required, the rest are optional. Keep options clear and distinct so guests can easily choose.

Multiple selection - Toggle this on to let guests select more than one option. The tooltip says "Allow multiple options to be selected?" This is useful for things like "Which events will you attend?" where a guest might select multiple.

Free field option - Check this to add an "Other" option where guests can type their own answer. The tooltip says "Allow guests to enter their own answer." You can customize the label for the other field. Great for catching answers you didn't think of.

Description - Add optional helper text below the question for extra context.

Required - Set whether guests must answer before submitting their RSVP.

Per household or per guest - Ask once per household or once per individual guest. Meal choices should usually be per guest, while transportation might be per household.

Link to event - Link this question to a specific event if it only applies to certain guests.

Tips

Keep options short. Long option text can be hard to read, especially on mobile. "Chicken" is better than "Grilled chicken breast with seasonal vegetables."

Put the most common option first. This makes it faster for most guests.

Use the "Other" option for flexibility. For dietary questions, adding a free field lets guests explain specific needs that aren't in your list.

Consider per-guest vs per-household carefully. Food choices need to be per guest. Transportation preferences might work better per household.
