Using a dropdown question
Learn how to create a dropdown RSVP question where guests select one option from a dropdown menu (Standard or Pro plan).
Dropdown questions present guests with a list of options in a compact dropdown menu. They're similar to multiple choice but take up less space on the form and only allow a single selection.
Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan
When to use a dropdown
Use a dropdown when you have several options and guests need to pick exactly one:
Meal option - "Which meal option would you like?" with Chicken, Fish, Vegetarian, Vegan
Favorite dessert - "What's your favorite dessert?" with a list of options
Drink of choice - "What's your drink of choice?" with cocktail options
Dropdown works best when you have more than two options but only one answer is needed. For binary choices, use Yes/No. For questions where guests might pick multiple answers, use multiple choice instead.
How it appears to guests
Guests see your question with a dropdown menu. They click the dropdown to reveal the list of options, then select one. The selected option displays in the dropdown field.
Dropdown vs multiple choice
Both types let you create a list of options. Here's when to use each:
Dropdown - Guest picks exactly one option. Cleaner look with many options. No "Other" field available.
Multiple choice - Guest can pick one or more options. Shows all options at once. Supports "Other" free text field.
Use dropdown for meal selections where each guest picks one. Use multiple choice when guests might select several options or when you want an "Other" field.

Configuration options
Options - Add up to 10 answer choices. The first option is required, the rest are optional. Each option appears in the dropdown menu in the order you add them.
Description - Add optional helper text below the question for extra context.
Required - Set whether guests must answer before submitting their RSVP. For meal choices, you'll usually want this required.
Per household or per guest - Ask once per household or once per individual guest. Meal choices should always be per guest.
Link to event - Link this question to a specific event if it only applies to certain guests.
Tips
Use for meal choices. Dropdown is the most popular choice for meal selection questions since each guest picks exactly one option.
Order options logically. Put the most common or standard option first. For meals, you might order them as they'll appear on the menu.
Keep the list manageable. While you can add up to 10 options, 3 to 6 is usually the sweet spot. Too many options can overwhelm guests.
Make it required for important choices. If you need meal counts for your caterer, make the question required so you don't end up chasing answers later.
