Setting up DNS on Network Solutions
Step-by-step instructions for connecting your Network Solutions domain to WedSites.
If you registered your domain with Network Solutions, follow these steps to add the DNS records needed to connect it to your WedSites wedding website.
Before you start
Make sure you've added your domain to WedSites first. Go to Settings > General and enter your custom domain, then save. Then come back here to set up your DNS records.
You'll need access to your Network Solutions account. Make sure you can log in and that you have permission to manage DNS for your domain.
DNS records you need to add
You'll be adding these two records to your Network Solutions domain:
Record Type | Host | Points To / Target | TTL |
A (Address) | @ | 37.16.10.26 | 3600 |
CNAME (Alias) | www | domains.wedsites.com | 3600 |
Important: You only need the A record if you're using an apex domain (like yourwedding.com). You only need the CNAME if you're using a subdomain (like www.yourwedding.com). We recommend adding both so both versions of your domain work.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Log in to Network Solutions
Go to networksolutions.com and sign in to your account.
Step 2: Access domain management
Click Account Manager in the top right
Under My Domain Names, click Manage My Domains
Find your domain in the list
Click Edit or Manage next to your domain
Step 3: Navigate to DNS settings
Click Advanced DNS or Manage Advanced DNS Records
You may need to scroll down or look in a dropdown menu
You should see a list of your current DNS records.
Step 4: Check for existing A records
Look for any existing A (Address) records with @ or your domain name in the Host column.
If you see existing A records for @:
- You need to delete any A records that don't point to 37.16.10.26
- Having multiple A records causes your domain to only work sometimes
- Click Edit on each conflicting record, then click Delete or Remove
Common conflicting records to look for:
- Network Solutions parking page A records
- Web forwarding records (Network Solutions uses these instead of A records sometimes)
- Old hosting A records
Step 5: Remove web forwarding (if present)
Network Solutions often uses "web forwarding" for parking pages, which conflicts with custom DNS.
Look for a section called Forwarding or URL Forwarding
If your domain is set to forward to networksolutions.com or parklogic.com, disable this
Click Delete or Turn Off the forwarding
Step 6: Add the A record
Look for Add Record or Edit A (Address) Records button
Click it and fill in the fields:
Host: @ (this represents your root domain)
Type: A or A (Address)
Points To / IP Address: 37.16.10.26
TTL: 3600 (1 hour) or leave as default
Click Save or Add
Note: Network Solutions sometimes shows the full domain name instead of @. If that's the case, enter your domain name (like yourwedding.com) in the Host field.
Step 7: Add the CNAME record
Look for Add Record or Edit CNAME (Alias) Records button
Click it and fill in the fields:
Alias: www (or your subdomain name if different)
Type: CNAME or CNAME (Alias)
Other Host: domains.wedsites.com
TTL: 3600 or leave as default
Click Save or Add
Using a custom subdomain? If you're using something like wedding.yourwedding.com instead of www, replace "www" with "wedding" in the Alias field.
Step 8: Save changes
Network Solutions may require you to click a final Save Changes or Continue button to apply all DNS changes. Make sure you complete this step.
After adding the records
Wait for DNS propagation. Network Solutions DNS changes can take 4-48 hours to fully propagate. It's one of the slower registrars for DNS updates.
SSL certificate is automatic. Once your domain connects, we'll automatically add an SSL certificate so your site works with https. This happens within a few hours of your domain connecting.
Test your domain. After waiting, try visiting your domain in a browser. You should see your wedding website!
Troubleshooting
Domain not working after several hours?
- Double-check that you entered the DNS records exactly as shown above
- Make sure you deleted any conflicting A records
- Verify you removed any web forwarding
- Check that you clicked the final Save Changes button
- Verify you entered your domain in WedSites under Settings > General
Still seeing Network Solutions parking page?
- Make sure you disabled web forwarding completely
- Delete all old A records for the root domain
- Network Solutions can be slow — wait up to 48 hours
- Try clearing your browser cache or testing in incognito mode
Getting errors when adding records?
- Network Solutions interface can be confusing — make sure you're in the Advanced DNS section
- Don't use the "simple" or "quick" DNS editor — it doesn't allow custom A records
- If you're on a very old account, you may need to contact support to enable Advanced DNS
CNAME issues?
- Make sure the Alias is "www" and not "@"
- Verify the Other Host field is exactly: domains.wedsites.com
- Network Solutions doesn't require a trailing dot
Need to verify DNS setup?
- Go to dnschecker.org
- Enter your domain and select "A" record type
- You should see 37.16.10.26 in the results
- Note: Network Solutions can take longer to show up globally
Network Solutions-specific notes
Slow propagation: Network Solutions is known for slower DNS propagation times compared to other registrars. Be patient and wait up to 48 hours.
Web forwarding vs DNS: Network Solutions uses "web forwarding" for their parking pages, which is different from DNS records. You must disable web forwarding before custom DNS will work.
Advanced DNS required: You need to use the "Advanced DNS" section, not the simplified DNS editor. If you can't find Advanced DNS in your account, contact Network Solutions support.
Old interface: Network Solutions has multiple interface versions. If your account is older, the menu names and locations might differ slightly from these instructions. Look for "DNS" or "Advanced DNS" in your domain settings.
Email hosting: If you use Network Solutions for email, your MX records are separate and won't be affected by adding these A and CNAME records.
Lock status: Make sure your domain is not locked for transfers, as this can sometimes prevent DNS changes. Check the domain lock status in your account settings.
