Setting up DNS on Tucows (OpenSRS / Enom)

Step-by-step instructions for connecting your Tucows, OpenSRS, or Enom domain to WedSites.

If you registered your domain through Tucows, OpenSRS, or Enom (now part of the Tucows family), follow these steps to add the DNS records needed to connect it to your WedSites wedding website.

Note: Tucows operates several domain brands including OpenSRS and Enom. Many domain resellers also use Tucows as their backend provider. The DNS management interface may vary slightly depending on which brand or reseller you purchased through, but the general steps are the same.

Before you start

Make sure you've added your domain to WedSites first. Go to Settings > General and enter your custom domain, then save. Then come back here to set up your DNS records.

You'll need access to your domain management account. Make sure you can log in to your registrar's control panel and that you have permission to manage DNS for your domain.

DNS records you need to add

You'll be adding these two records to your domain:

Record Type

Host

Points To / Target

TTL

A (Address)

@

37.16.10.26

3600

CNAME (Alias)

www

domains.wedsites.com

3600

Important: You only need the A record if you're using an apex domain (like yourwedding.com). You only need the CNAME if you're using a subdomain (like www.yourwedding.com). We recommend adding both so both versions of your domain work.

Step-by-step instructions

The steps below cover the most common interfaces. Choose the section that matches your provider.

If you're using Enom

Step 1: Log in to Enom

Go to enomcentral.com and sign in to your account.

Step 2: Navigate to DNS settings

  1. Click Domains in the top menu

  2. Click My Domains

  3. Find your domain and click on it

  4. Click Host Records in the left sidebar

Step 3: Check for existing records

Look for any existing A records with @ or your domain name.

If you see existing A records for @:
- Delete any A records that don't point to 37.16.10.26
- Having multiple A records causes your domain to only work sometimes

Step 4: Add the A record

  1. In the Host Records section, find an empty row or click Add Row

  2. Fill in the fields:

    • Host Name: @ (this represents your root domain)

    • Record Type: A

    • Address: 37.16.10.26

  3. Click Save

Step 5: Add the CNAME record

  1. Find another empty row or click Add Row

  2. Fill in the fields:

    • Host Name: www

    • Record Type: CNAME

    • Address: domains.wedsites.com

  3. Click Save

If you're using OpenSRS or a Tucows reseller

If you bought your domain through a reseller that uses Tucows/OpenSRS as their backend, you'll manage DNS through your reseller's control panel. The exact interface varies, but the general process is:

Step 1: Log in to your reseller's control panel

Go to your domain provider's website and sign in. If you're not sure who your reseller is, check your domain registration email.

Step 2: Find DNS management

Look for one of these:
- DNS Management
- DNS Records
- Zone Editor
- Host Records

This is usually found under your domain's settings or advanced options.

Step 3: Check for existing A records

Look for any existing A records with @ or your domain name in the Host column.

If you see existing A records for @:
- Delete any that don't point to 37.16.10.26
- Having multiple A records causes your domain to only work sometimes

Step 4: Add the A record

  1. Click Add Record or find an empty row

  2. Fill in the fields:

    • Host / Name: @ (this represents your root domain)

    • Type: A

    • Value / Address / Points To: 37.16.10.26

    • TTL: 3600 or leave as default

  3. Click Save

Step 5: Add the CNAME record

  1. Click Add Record or find another empty row

  2. Fill in the fields:

    • Host / Name: www

    • Type: CNAME

    • Value / Address / Points To: domains.wedsites.com

    • TTL: 3600 or leave as default

  3. Click Save

Using a custom subdomain? If you're using something like wedding.yourwedding.com instead of www, replace "www" with "wedding" in the Host Name field.

After adding the records

Wait for DNS propagation. DNS changes typically take 15 minutes to 24 hours to fully propagate.

SSL certificate is automatic. Once your domain connects, we'll automatically add an SSL certificate so your site works with https. This happens within a few hours of your domain connecting.

Test your domain. After waiting, try visiting your domain in a browser. You should see your wedding website!

Troubleshooting

Domain not working after several hours?
- Double-check that you entered the DNS records exactly as shown above
- Make sure you deleted any conflicting A records
- Check that you entered your domain in WedSites under Settings > General

Not sure where to manage DNS?
- If you bought through a reseller, contact that reseller's support — they can tell you where DNS management is
- Check your original domain registration email for login details
- Try searching "DNS" or "zone editor" in your control panel

Can't edit DNS records?
- Some resellers don't expose DNS management by default — contact their support to enable it
- Make sure your domain is not using the registrar's nameservers for a bundled website builder
- If your nameservers have been changed to a third party (like Cloudflare), you'll need to manage DNS there instead

CNAME issues?
- Make sure the Host Name is "www" and not "@"
- Verify the Address/Value field is exactly: domains.wedsites.com
- Check that you don't already have a CNAME for www — edit the existing one instead of adding a duplicate

Need to verify DNS setup?
- Go to dnschecker.org
- Enter your domain and select "A" record type
- You should see 37.16.10.26 in the results

Tucows/Enom-specific notes

Reseller variation: Since Tucows operates as a wholesale registrar, your actual management interface depends on the reseller you purchased through. The screenshots and exact menu names in this guide may not match your interface exactly, but the DNS record values are the same everywhere.

Enom nameservers: If your domain uses Enom's default nameservers (dns1.name-services.com through dns5.name-services.com), you can manage DNS records directly through the Enom control panel. If you've changed nameservers, manage DNS at the new DNS provider instead.

Domain forwarding: If your domain is set up with domain forwarding (sometimes called URL forwarding), disable it before adding custom DNS records. Forwarding and custom A records can conflict with each other.

Email hosting: If you use your registrar for email, your MX records are separate and won't be affected by adding these A and CNAME records.

Contact your reseller: If you're having trouble finding DNS settings, your best bet is to contact the reseller you purchased the domain from. They can guide you to the right place or make the changes for you.
