Setting up DNS on Hostinger

Step-by-step instructions for connecting your Hostinger domain to WedSites.

If you registered your domain with Hostinger, follow these steps to add the DNS records needed to connect it to your WedSites wedding website.

Before you start

Make sure you've added your domain to WedSites first. Go to Settings > General and enter your custom domain, then save. Then come back here to set up your DNS records.

You'll need access to your Hostinger account. Make sure you can log in and that you have permission to manage DNS for your domain.

DNS records you need to add

You'll be adding these two records to your Hostinger domain:

Record Type

Host

Points To / Target

TTL

A (Address)

@

37.16.10.26

3600

CNAME (Alias)

www

domains.wedsites.com

3600

Important: You only need the A record if you're using an apex domain (like yourwedding.com). You only need the CNAME if you're using a subdomain (like www.yourwedding.com). We recommend adding both so both versions of your domain work.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Log in to Hostinger

Go to hostinger.com and sign in to your hPanel dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to domain management

  1. In the hPanel dashboard, click Domains in the top menu

  2. Find your domain in the list

  3. Click Manage next to your domain

Step 3: Open DNS settings

  1. In the domain management page, click DNS / Nameservers in the left sidebar

  2. Click the DNS Records tab

  3. You should see a list of your current DNS records

Step 4: Check for existing A records

Look for any existing A records with @ in the Name column.

If you see existing A records for @:
- You need to delete any A records that don't point to 37.16.10.26
- Having multiple A records causes your domain to only work sometimes
- Click the Delete icon (trash can) next to each conflicting record

Common conflicting records to look for:
- Hostinger default A records (pointing to Hostinger's servers)
- Website builder A records
- Old hosting A records

Step 5: Add the A record

  1. In the DNS Records section, look for the Add Record area

  2. Select A as the record type

  3. Fill in the fields:

    • Name: @ (or leave empty — Hostinger uses @ for the root domain)

    • Points to / Target: 37.16.10.26

    • TTL: 3600 or leave as default (14400)

  4. Click Add Record

Step 6: Add the CNAME record

  1. Select CNAME as the record type

  2. Fill in the fields:

    • Name: www

    • Points to / Target: domains.wedsites.com

    • TTL: 3600 or leave as default (14400)

  3. Click Add Record

Using a custom subdomain? If you're using something like wedding.yourwedding.com instead of www, replace "www" with "wedding" in the Name field.

Step 7: Verify your records

After saving, check the DNS records list to confirm both records appear:
- An A record for @ pointing to 37.16.10.26
- A CNAME record for www pointing to domains.wedsites.com

After adding the records

Wait for DNS propagation. Hostinger DNS changes typically take 15 minutes to a few hours to fully propagate.

SSL certificate is automatic. Once your domain connects, we'll automatically add an SSL certificate so your site works with https. This happens within a few hours of your domain connecting.

Test your domain. After waiting, try visiting your domain in a browser. You should see your wedding website!

Troubleshooting

Domain not working after several hours?
- Double-check that you entered the DNS records exactly as shown above
- Make sure you deleted any conflicting A records
- Make sure your nameservers are pointed to Hostinger (if managing DNS at Hostinger)
- Check that you entered your domain in WedSites under Settings > General

Still seeing Hostinger page or website builder?
- Disconnect the domain from any Hostinger website builder or hosting plan
- Delete all old A records for the root domain
- Try clearing your browser cache or testing in incognito mode

Can't find DNS Records?
- In hPanel, go to Domains > click your domain > DNS / Nameservers > DNS Records tab
- Make sure you're in the domain management area, not the hosting management area

CNAME issues?
- Make sure the Name is "www" and not "@"
- Verify the Target field is exactly: domains.wedsites.com
- Check that you don't already have a CNAME for www — delete the old one first

Need to verify DNS setup?
- Go to dnschecker.org
- Enter your domain and select "A" record type
- You should see 37.16.10.26 in the results

Hostinger-specific notes

hPanel interface: Hostinger uses their custom hPanel (not cPanel). DNS management is found under Domains > your domain > DNS / Nameservers.

Website builder conflict: If you're using Hostinger's website builder, it automatically manages DNS records. Disconnect the website builder from your domain before adding custom DNS records.

Nameservers: Make sure your domain's nameservers are pointed to Hostinger (ns1.dns-parking.com and ns2.dns-parking.com, or Hostinger's hosting nameservers) for DNS records managed through hPanel to work. If nameservers point elsewhere, manage DNS at that provider instead.

Email hosting: If you use Hostinger for email, your MX records are separate and won't be affected by adding these A and CNAME records.
