Setting up DNS on Crazy Domains
Step-by-step instructions for connecting your Crazy Domains domain to WedSites.
If you registered your domain with Crazy Domains, follow these steps to add the DNS records needed to connect it to your WedSites wedding website.
Before you start
Make sure you've added your domain to WedSites first. Go to Settings > General and enter your custom domain, then save. Then come back here to set up your DNS records.
You'll need access to your Crazy Domains account. Make sure you can log in and that you have permission to manage DNS for your domain.
DNS records you need to add
You'll be adding these two records to your Crazy Domains domain:
Record Type | Host | Points To / Target | TTL |
A (Address) | @ | 37.16.10.26 | 3600 |
CNAME (Alias) | www | domains.wedsites.com | 3600 |
Important: You only need the A record if you're using an apex domain (like yourwedding.com). You only need the CNAME if you're using a subdomain (like www.yourwedding.com). We recommend adding both so both versions of your domain work.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Log in to Crazy Domains
Go to crazydomains.com.au (or your regional Crazy Domains site) and sign in to your account.
Step 2: Navigate to domain management
Click My Account or Domains in the top menu
Find your domain in the list
Click on your domain name to open its management page
Step 3: Open DNS settings
Look for DNS Settings or DNS Management in the domain management area
Click on it to open the DNS records editor
You should see a list of your current DNS records
Step 4: Check for existing A records
Look for any existing A records in the list.
If you see existing A records for @ or the root domain:
- You need to delete any A records that don't point to 37.16.10.26
- Having multiple A records causes your domain to only work sometimes
- Click Delete or Remove next to each conflicting record
Common conflicting records to look for:
- Crazy Domains default parking page A records
- Website builder A records
- Old hosting A records
Step 5: Add the A record
In the DNS settings, look for Add Record or a form to create new records
Fill in the fields:
Type: A
Name / Host: @ (or leave blank for the root domain)
Content / Value: 37.16.10.26
TTL: 3600 or leave as default
Click Add or Save
Step 6: Add the CNAME record
Add another new record:
Type: CNAME
Name / Host: www
Content / Value: domains.wedsites.com
TTL: 3600 or leave as default
Click Add or Save
Using a custom subdomain? If you're using something like wedding.yourwedding.com instead of www, replace "www" with "wedding" in the Name field.
Step 7: Verify your records
After saving, check the DNS records list to confirm both records appear:
- An A record for @ pointing to 37.16.10.26
- A CNAME record for www pointing to domains.wedsites.com
After adding the records
Wait for DNS propagation. Crazy Domains DNS changes typically take 15 minutes to 24 hours to fully propagate.
SSL certificate is automatic. Once your domain connects, we'll automatically add an SSL certificate so your site works with https. This happens within a few hours of your domain connecting.
Test your domain. After waiting, try visiting your domain in a browser. You should see your wedding website!
Troubleshooting
Domain not working after several hours?
- Double-check that you entered the DNS records exactly as shown above
- Make sure you deleted any conflicting A records
- Check that you entered your domain in WedSites under Settings > General
Still seeing Crazy Domains parking page?
- Delete all default A records for the root domain
- Check if your domain has website forwarding enabled and disable it
- Try clearing your browser cache or testing in incognito mode
Can't find DNS settings?
- Log in to your Crazy Domains account and navigate to your domain's management page
- Look for "DNS Settings", "DNS Management", or "Advanced DNS" in the domain options
- If you can't see this option, contact Crazy Domains support to enable DNS management
CNAME issues?
- Make sure the Name is "www" and not "@"
- Verify the Value field is exactly: domains.wedsites.com
- Check that you don't already have a CNAME for www — delete the old one first
Need to verify DNS setup?
- Go to dnschecker.org
- Enter your domain and select "A" record type
- You should see 37.16.10.26 in the results
Crazy Domains-specific notes
Australian registrar: Crazy Domains is popular in Australia. Their regional sites include crazydomains.com.au, crazydomains.co.nz, and others. The DNS management interface is the same across all regions.
Website builder conflict: If you're using Crazy Domains' website builder or web hosting, it may automatically manage DNS records. Disconnect or disable these services before adding custom DNS records.
Nameservers: For DNS records managed through Crazy Domains to work, your domain must use Crazy Domains' nameservers. If you've changed nameservers to another provider, manage DNS there instead.
Email hosting: If you use Crazy Domains for email, your MX records are separate and won't be affected by adding these A and CNAME records.
