Editing page title
Change your page title to update what appears in navigation menus and in the browser tab.
Your page title is what guests see in the navigation menu and in the browser tab. You can change it anytime!
What the page title does
Shows in navigation. Guests click it to get to your page.
Identifies the page. Tells guests what they'll find there.
Affects SEO. Search engines use page titles.
Creates the URL slug. A new page's web address is made from its title (you can change the slug separately).
How to edit a page title
Go to Website in your main navigation
Your pages appear as tabs along the top of the builder
Click the tab of the page you want to rename
Click Settings to open the Page settings panel
Edit the Page title field
Click Save changes
You can also type a new title straight into the title field at the top of the builder when the page is open. The title saves as soon as you click away.
The title updates immediately in your navigation!
Tips for good page titles
Keep them short. Long titles get cut off in navigation menus.
Be clear. "Travel Info" is better than "Getting Here and Where to Stay".
Use familiar terms. "Our Story" is more common than "How We Met".
Match guest expectations. If guests are looking for hotels, call it "Travel" or "Hotels", not something creative they won't recognize.
Common page titles
Home (your main page)
Our Story (how you met)
Events (ceremony, reception details)
Travel (hotels, directions)
Wedding Party (the people standing beside you)
Registry (gift registries)
RSVP (response form)
Photos (engagement pics)
FAQ (frequently asked questions)
Use whatever makes sense for your content!
What happens when you change it
Navigation updates. The new title shows in your menu.
The browser tab updates. The page title appears in the browser tab, followed by your site title. The page title isn't displayed on the page itself, so update any heading section on the page separately.
The slug depends on where you rename. Renaming in Page settings keeps the current page URL. Renaming in the title field at the top of the builder creates a new URL from the new title. See our article on changing page slug!
Bookmarks might break. If the URL changes, guests who bookmarked the old URL are sent to your home page instead.
Page title vs. heading sections
Page title: The name of the page itself, shows in navigation.
Heading sections: Content sections you add to the page to break up text.
They can be the same or different! Some people like them to match, others don't. It's up to you.
Changing for multiple languages
On a multilingual site (Pro plan), each language has its own copy of every page, so each copy has its own title. In the website builder, pick the language from the language dropdown at the top of the Home tab, open the page's tab, and edit its Page title. This way English speakers see "Our Story" and Spanish speakers see "Nuestra Historia" in the navigation!
Special characters
Most characters work fine in page titles. If you want to use emojis or special symbols, test to make sure they display correctly in your navigation menu!
Editing page titles helps you keep your navigation clear and organized as your site evolves!
