Editing couple names
Customize how your names appear on your website, including each partner's name and the delimiter between them.
Your names are probably the most important part of your wedding website! You can customize how they appear, including each partner's name and what goes between them.
What you can edit
First partner: First name and last name fields on the left.
Second partner: First name and last name fields on the right.
Delimiter: The field between the two names (defaults to "&" or "and" depending on your font settings).
How to edit couple names
Go to Website in your main navigation
Click the settings icon to open Site settings
In the General tab, find the section labeled The couple
Enter the first partner's First name and Last name in the left fields
Enter the delimiter in the middle field (defaults to & or and)
Enter the second partner's First name and Last name in the right fields
Click Save changes
Your names update throughout your site!
Choosing what to display
Full names: "Emily Rodriguez and Jordan Kim"
First names only: "Emily and Jordan" or "Emily & Jordan"
First and last: "Emily and Jordan Kim" (if you're taking the same last name)
Nicknames: "Em and J" if that's your vibe
However you want to be known!
Name delimiter options
The delimiter is what goes between your names. Common choices:
and (the classic)
& (short and sweet)
+ (math-y cute)
♥ (heart symbol)
| (modern and clean)
with ("Emily with Jordan")
Some couples skip it entirely and just use a space!
Name order
Traditional: Sometimes there are traditions about whose name goes first.
Alphabetical: Pick based on what sounds better.
Personal preference: Go with what feels right to you!
There's no wrong answer. It's your wedding!
How names appear
Once you set them, your couple names show:
In the website header at the top of your home page, when Display names in header is on in Site settings > Header. Other pages show the header too when Display website header is on in their Page settings.
In the navigation menu, when Display names in menu is on in Site settings > Menu. Clicking them takes guests back to the top of your home page.
In the browser tab and search results, as "Your names - WedSites", unless you've set your own site title and description.
Capitalization
Your names display exactly as you type them, unless you pick a letter case for the names font in Site settings > Fonts (Aa mixed case, AA uppercase, or aa lowercase):
Title Case: "Emily and Jordan"
ALL CAPS: "EMILY AND JORDAN"
lowercase: "emily and jordan"
Though most themes work best with standard title case!
Special characters
Want to use accents, symbols, or special characters? You can type them straight into the name fields!
Accents: "André" or "José"
Symbols: "Em♥J" or "Emily + Jordan"
Emojis: Some couple use emojis (test to make sure they display correctly!)
Length considerations
Keep it reasonable. Super long names might not fit in some spaces on your site.
Test on mobile. Long names might wrap weird on phones.
Abbreviate if needed. "Elizabeth and Alexander" could become "Liz and Alex".
Name vs. title
Couple names: Your actual names ("Emily and Jordan").
Site title: Could be different ("Our Big Day" or "The Rodriguez-Kim Wedding").
These are separate settings. If you don't set a site title, your names are used in the browser tab instead.
Updating after you're married
If you change your names after the wedding, you can update your website:
Edit the couple names settings
Save
Your site updates with your new names!
Some couples keep their website as a memory with their pre-wedding names. Others update. Your choice!
Multilingual sites
If you're running a multilingual website (Pro plan), you can set names differently per language. Switch the website builder to the language, open Site settings, and fill in The couple fields. Leave a field blank to use the name from your default language.
Where else names appear
Beyond your website, your couple names also appear:
In ecards (save the dates, invitations), unless you've entered different names in the ecard's own settings
In emails sent from your site, as the sender name (unless you've set a different sender name) and in RSVP confirmation subjects
Your names don't change your website address. Your subdomain is set separately in Settings.
Check each area to make sure names are consistent!
Editing couple names is usually one of the first things you do when setting up your wedding website. Make it yours!
