How do I use guest sides?

Tag guests as belonging to one partner's side or the other for organization and seating.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

Short answer: Assign a side to each guest in their profile - this helps with filtering, seating, and keeping lists organized. The side labels use your names.

What the side labels say

The Side field is built from the couple names you set in Settings, so if your names are Sam and Alex, the options read:

  • Both sides

  • Sam's side

  • Alex's side

Change your names in Settings > Wedding and the side labels update everywhere - the guest form, filters, exports, and seating.

Assigning sides

  1. Go to Guests and find the guest

  2. Click to edit their details

  3. Find the Side field

  4. Select Both sides or one partner's side

  5. Click Save

Turning the field off

If sides aren't useful for your wedding, you can hide the field entirely. Go to Guests > Settings and turn off Side. Nothing else in the guest list depends on it.

When importing guests

Include a "Side" column in your import spreadsheet and use the partner's first name as the value - for example Sam, Alex, or Both. The importer matches your value against the side labels, so a name that doesn't match either partner is ignored and the guest is imported without a side.

Guests without a side assignment can be updated later.

Using sides

Once assigned, you can:
- Filter your guest list by side
- View counts for each side
- Export side-specific lists
- Balance seating between sides
- Send emails to one side only

Tips

  • Sides help balance seating at the reception

  • Some couples assign sides to households rather than individuals

  • You can still seat people together regardless of side

  • Sides don't affect how guests RSVP or receive invitations

  • Use Both sides for mutual friends you both knew before meeting

  • Leave the field blank for vendors or anyone who doesn't fit a side
