Creating and managing email drafts

Learn how to create, edit, and manage email drafts using templates to communicate with your guests.

Drafts let you compose emails before sending them. Choose a template, customize the content, select your recipients, and send when you're ready.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

Creating a draft

  1. Go to Sending in your main navigation

  2. Click to create a new draft

  3. Choose a template type:

    • Email - A plain text email

    • Save the date - Pre-filled with save the date content

    • Invitation - Pre-filled with invitation content

    • RSVP reminder - Reminder to RSVP

    • Collect details - Request for guest details

    • Custom URL - Email with a custom link

  4. The draft is created with template defaults

Editing your draft

The draft editor has these sections:

Subject - Your email subject line. Each template has a default (e.g., "Save the date for Emma & James" or "You're invited to Emma & James's wedding").

Image - Optionally upload an image to include in the email. Click Upload image to add one, or Delete image to remove it.

Message - Write your email content using the rich text editor. You can use placeholders to personalize for each guest (see available placeholders below).

Include call to action - Toggle this to add a button at the end of your email. The description says "Display a button at the end of your email. Recipients can click the button to visit a link and action on your email. This link will automatically authenticate guests and bypass any access codes."
- Button link - Choose where the button goes (Email, Save the date, Invitation, RSVP reminder, Collect details, or Custom URL)
- Custom URL - If you chose Custom URL, enter the link here
- Button text - The text on the button (each template has a default, like "Visit our website" or "RSVP here")

Include link to visit site - Add a text link to your wedding website. The link text defaults to "Visit our wedding website."

Selecting recipients

Choose which guests should receive this email. You'll see a list with:
- Guest name and email
- RSVP status
- List (A/B)
- Side
- Group
- Stationery status
- Preferred language

Guests without an email address will show "No email address." Invalid emails show "Invalid format."

Managing drafts

Edit - Click on any draft to edit its content or recipients.

Delete - Click Delete draft to remove it permanently.

Available placeholders

Use these placeholders in your subject line or message to personalize emails for each guest:

  • [firstname] - Guest's first name

  • [lastname] - Guest's last name

  • [fullname] - Guest's full name

  • [household] - Household name

  • [guests] - All guest names in the household

  • [couple] - Your names as a couple

  • [rsvp] - Guest's RSVP status

  • [email] - Guest's email address

  • [phone] - Guest's phone number

  • [dietary] - Guest's dietary requirements

Using fallbacks: You can add a fallback value for when a placeholder is empty. For example, [dietary fallback="None"] will show "None" if the guest hasn't specified dietary requirements.

Tips

Use templates to save time. Templates come pre-written with appropriate content. Just tweak to make it your own.

Personalize with placeholders. [firstname] in your message becomes each guest's actual first name when sent. Use [guests] to address everyone in a household.

Preview before sending. Always preview your email to see exactly what guests will receive.
