How do I create a seating chart?

Design your reception seating arrangement by assigning guests to tables.

Plan requirement: Pro plan

Short answer: Go to Planner > Seating to create tables, drag guests to assign seats, and finalize your layout.

Creating your seating chart

  1. Go to Planner > Seating

  2. Enter the number of tables you plan to have and click Continue

  3. WedSites creates your tables and auto-assigns confirmed guests

  4. Fine-tune the assignments by dragging guests between tables

You can also skip the auto-assignment and start with an empty table.

Adding more tables

  1. Click Add table on the seating chart page

  2. A new table appears — click its name to rename it

Assigning guests to tables

  • See unassigned guests in the sidebar on the right

  • Drag a guest to a table to assign them

  • Drag guests between tables to rearrange

  • Drag a guest back to the unassigned list to remove their assignment

Seating tips

Consider when seating:
- Keep families together
- Seat friends who know each other
- Consider dietary needs (near kitchen for special meals)
- Balance bride's and groom's guests
- Think about mobility needs

Exporting your seating chart

  • Download a CSV to share with your venue

  • Use the print view to print or save as PDF for your coordinator

Tips

  • Wait until RSVPs are mostly in before finalizing

  • Leave a few empty seats for last-minute changes

  • Show household members together

  • Consider sight lines to important moments

  • Have someone double-check for errors
