Composing an invitation email

Learn how to create and send a wedding invitation email with your date, location, and RSVP link (Standard or Pro plan).

The invitation template comes pre-written with your wedding date, city, and RSVP deadline. It includes a call-to-action button that takes guests directly to the RSVP form.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

When to use an invitation email

Send an invitation email when:

  • You're ready for guests to RSVP - The button links directly to your RSVP form

  • 4 to 8 weeks before the wedding - Standard timing for wedding invitations

  • After your save the dates - This is the follow-up with full details

Invitation emails are different from invitation ecards. The email is sent through the Sending feature, while the ecard is a designed digital card created in the Ecards section. You can use either or both.

Default content

When you create an invitation draft, it starts with:

  • Subject: "You're invited to [your couple names]'s wedding"

  • Message: > Hi there! > > We're getting married on [date] in [city]. We'd love for you to join us on our special day. > > Please RSVP by [deadline].

  • Button text: "RSVP here" (links to your RSVP form)

The date, city, and RSVP deadline are automatically pulled from your settings. The button authenticates guests automatically so they can RSVP without entering an access code.

How to create an invitation email

  1. Go to Sending in your main navigation

  2. Click to create a new draft

  3. Select Invitation as the template

  4. Customize the subject and message

  5. Optionally upload an image

  6. Select your recipients

  7. Preview and send

Personalizing your invitation

Use placeholders to make each invitation personal:

  • [firstname] - Address each guest by name

  • [guests] - List all guests in the household ("Sarah, John, and Emily")

  • [household] - Use the household name

Tips

Set your RSVP deadline first. The template includes your deadline date. Make sure it's configured in your RSVP settings before creating this draft.

The RSVP button authenticates guests automatically. When guests click the button, they're taken directly to the RSVP form and identified automatically. No need for access codes.

Add event details. Customize the message to include the venue name, ceremony time, dress code, or any other important information.

Upload a beautiful image. An engagement photo or wedding-themed image makes the invitation feel special.

Send to confirmed attendees too. Even guests who have already confirmed verbally should receive the formal invitation and use the RSVP form so you have everything tracked in one place.
