How do I change my website URL?
Update your wedding website address by changing the subdomain or connecting a custom domain.
Short answer: Go to Settings to change your wedsites.com subdomain or add a custom domain.
Your permanent web address
Every site starts with a permanent web address made of three words, like gentle-ivory-peony.wedsites.com. Find it in Settings under Your permanent web address, and copy it with the Copy link button.
It always works, whatever subdomain you choose later, and it forwards guests to your chosen address. Share it any time.
Changing your subdomain
To use your own address like yournames.wedsites.com:
Go to Settings
Find the Subdomain field, before .wedsites.com
Enter the subdomain you'd like
Click Save
The field is empty until you choose one, showing your permanent web address as a hint. Clear it and save to go back to that address.
Subdomain availability
Subdomains must be unique across all WedSites users
If your preferred subdomain is taken, try variations like "john-and-jane" or "thesmiths2024"
Only letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed
Using a custom domain
For a fully custom URL like ourwedding.com:
Purchase a domain from a registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)
Go to Settings
Enter your domain in the Custom domain (optional) field
Click Save to see the required DNS records
Configure the DNS records at your domain registrar
Wait for DNS propagation (up to 48 hours)
What happens to old URLs?
Your permanent web address always follows you, so links using it keep working
Your old subdomain may become available for others after you change it
If you previously shared links with the old subdomain, they won't redirect automatically
Consider keeping your original subdomain if you've already sent invitations

Choose a URL that's easy for guests to type and remember
Avoid special characters that might cause confusion
Test your new URL before sharing it widely
If using a custom domain, keep your wedsites.com subdomain as a backup
