Importing guests
Learn how to quickly upload your entire guest list from a CSV file with automatic creation of groups and households based on your spreadsheet data.
Already have your guest list in a spreadsheet? You can import it into WedSites using a CSV file. This is the fastest way to get a big list into the system.
How to import
Go to Guests in your main navigation
Click the Upload button at the top of the page
Click Select file and choose your CSV file
Click Continue
WedSites will process the file and add your guests
Getting your CSV ready
Your CSV file needs at least a First name column. Everything else is optional.
Download the template
Not sure how to format your file? Click Download sample on the import page to get a pre-formatted CSV template. Just fill it in and upload.
The template download link is at the bottom of the import page, labeled "Download sample."
Supported columns
Here are all the columns WedSites recognizes:

ID | The guest's ID from a WedSites export. Keep it to update that exact guest; leave it blank for new guests |

Column names aren't case-sensitive, and WedSites recognizes common variations (like "Email" and "E-mail address" both work).
What happens during import
A row with an ID updates that exact guest
A row without an ID updates the guest with the same first and last name, if there is one, or otherwise creates a new guest
Each row updates a different guest, so two rows with the same name never overwrite each other
Groups mentioned in the CSV are created automatically if they don't exist
Households mentioned in the CSV are created automatically if they don't exist
Address and country info is attached to the household
Tips
Start with the template. It's the easiest way to make sure your columns are right.
Clean up your spreadsheet first. Remove any extra rows, blank rows, or header notes that aren't part of the data. Just column headers and guest data.
Check after importing. Take a quick look through your guest list after importing to make sure everything looks right. You can always edit individual guests if something needs fixing.
Edit in a spreadsheet, then re-upload. Download your guest list, make your changes, and upload the same file. Keep the ID column so every row goes back to the right guest, even if you sort or reorder the rows.
Guests who share a name. If two guests have the same name, keep the ID column when you re-upload. Without IDs, WedSites tells them apart by email, then by household, so give each a different email or household.
